Actually, i don’t, i just was blaming the wrong device. After fishing my poor ipod out of the trash, i changed which firewire port it was plugged into. Amazingly, it seems to now be working without a hitch. In fact, i was even able to reup all 12 gig of music files to it without a hitch. I do believe the problem is the top firewire port, not my ipod.
Why did this crop up all of a sudden? Once again, my fault. I had pulled the cord out to take it with me to charge it at home, and upon return plugged it into the top port. I think the differences, now that i look back, between big problems with the ipod and it working fine are all due to which port i had it in. Of course, this means that there is a problem with my G4, which is another thing, but its not something that interferes with anything else right now.

Its not terribly unusual for a specific port to fail on the new over-integrated motherboards. If you’re very lucky, perhaps a connecting cable to the port just needs to be reseated (disconnect, reconnect, all the little metal atoms are happy again).
I’ve lost count over the years of the number of motherboards I’ve had to add expansion cards on to replace busted “integrated” ports though…
You do have the applecare package for the G4, don’t you?
Anyways, glad to hear your Ipod’s working now.
And I know this is gonna sound silly, but I think there ought to be a ‘PiroCam’ somewhere on this site…
*chuckle* cool.
Still, it doesn’t mean you can’t hint to Apple that you are a “big todo webcomic artist” with a big following, and that extended trials (forever, free) by you of products might sway your opinion (online journal) of their products (which might sway sales). HEY! Your not a politician or something requiring a high ethical center. Your are an artist where the word “FREE” rules the game (same with students).
(romstop) Or a gallery of what your store looks like. Hey, some of us are far away and can’t visit.
Not meaning to offend… but Lotharjade… I don’t understand what you’re saying… But it might just be me… ’cause it’s 23:50 where I am (England) and getting a bt sleepy…
Any way, Fred, glad to hear you’ve figured out what your computer-iPod problems were and were able to get around them… I’ve recently tried to install Photoshop Elements onto my (pc) laptop, and it just doesn’t seem to want to happen…
Don’t know what the problem is, but I can’t help but feel I’m the one at fault…
Oh, and don’t worry, I wasn’t offended by that ‘Leave it to Seraphim’ comic from… whenever… I got the joke allmost instantly! ^-^
I’m just a pathetic PC user but i’ve discovered that sometimes when you have a device plugged into one port it wont work on other ports…i found this out prior to and after having my iPod
I don’t have an iPod, so I really have no clue as to what you are all talking about.
Ah, you musn’t be to hasty to trash $300.

Ah, good to hear it wasn’t your iPod, Fred. This will probably make your holidays a bit happier?
Good for you, Fred! You can have your music back. I am pc, personally. I despise macs, but they still work for me. ^_^ Any way, tilll next blog. Cory
