Today was a day spent running around doing all sorts of little things i’ve been avoiding for weeks. Christmas rush at the store seems to be winding down, the book is finished, chapter 6 is rolling along… we’re busy, but at least sarah and i have a little time to breathe.
Of course, then there is the small problem of christmas gifts. As of this morning, i had taken care of only ONE person’s gifts (that being sarah). Yes, these are the most challenging, and i am quite pleased with how… resourceful i was this year. ^^;; Then i realized i really should get stuff for other people too. I have a very small little world i live in, i admit.
That’s where sarah show’s how amazingly fsking brilliant she is. I can rack my head for weeks on end trying to think of gifts for people. Talk with her for a bit, and suddenly she has these amazing ideas that are just perfect. With her help (and her resourcefulness) i was able to take care of most of my gift dilemmas today, all while running other biz errands.
anyways, lots of inbetween stuff today. I’m using ecto, a sweet little program hawk encouraged me to use to make blogging here easier… and he was right, it’s a perfect little program for this activity. So much so, i wish it worked with Megatokyo… and with that thought in mind this morning, i twiddled with some things, and i actually CAN use it to write my MT rants. Not directly, of course (there’s no way to integrate something like this with the way MT handles rants) but it’s just right for what i want to do. With that in mind, i really need to put up a new MT rant… i’ll work on that tonight.
oh, and other wants. I really think i should get this for my 12″ powerbook. The damn thing gets pretty hot, and it isn’t as comfortable as you might think to have it on your lap for extended periods of time. This is pretty cool. Ah well, next christmas

Last minute Christmas shopping is always kinda tough. If I could order stuff online, it’d make things easier. My sister wants the “darkly cute” shirt.

Yes. Today, I also had the misfortune of venturing forth to the local mall along with the hordes of desperate customers. I did this in hopes of finding good presents I should have planned for several weeks ago. I was mildly successful.
I wish I had one of those lap things… my laptop clearly wasn’t meant to be for lap-topping at all.
The little laptopthing, I have something similar I bot from Target. It has two fans though and cost only 20.

woah, that’s crazy. i mention i use a program, and get a comment from the guy who wrote it ^^;; major kudos adriaan, Ecto really IS a great little program, and it’s just spooky who reads my stuff sometimes
Try the Antec laptop CoolPad. They run anywhere from $25 to $40 (depending upon sale pricing) and plug into any USB port. I’ve bought two so far. I use one for cooling my HP during basic and midrange tasks. I use the other for gaming, as I took it apart and put the two fans where they blow upward into my CPU area and RAM vent. I am able to stably and reliably OC my graphics system without heat-induced slowdown.
I wish I had a laptop ^.^ but I find it surprising just how few postings there are here. When I found megatokyo I assumed there was a large crowd and now I wonder why there isn’t some huge list of people that read this awesome comic. ‘Fredrin’ I don’t know how you do it. But you manage to pull together a web comic and store AND without going crazy I’ve told my friends and now your books are on all 3 of our wish lists for christmas! Keep it up you’ve got lots o’ people rootin for you whether you hear from them or not.

Andy, head to the Story Discussion forums at http://www.megatokyo.com and you’ll find “a hive of scum an d villiany” infesting all the nooks and crannies that is Megatokyo. Most of the story discussion occurs there. Fredart is more of a sanctuary for Fred (I suppose) where he can happily blog and listen to the random comment about his life and art.
I recommend the Antec coolpad as well for price and functionality — the fans are noisier than I’d like but they can always be upgraded… I’m kind of on a “pooters must not make noise” rampage in my house.
If you’ll pardon me, I must now go bleach my brain after reading WhiteKnight’s latest fanfic bit in the MT SD forums… he actually does quite nicely with most of his characterizations then he gets to Largo and its like this psychotic blackhole aneurysm erupts.

I’m not sure where your “line of no further” goes with the MT characters, (yeah, yeah, non-H) but WK is treading on my “say, what?” wire lately. That mysterious former employee he equates to Largo must have been some ticket…
We were all going to go shopping today, but we got a foot and a half of snow and our county closed all the roads and we aren’t allowed to drive. I’m just gonna have to give all my friends IOUs…
You know, it’s possible to say that you should get a lap protector….. but for HEALTH reasons.
Why?
Because the heat and the radiation from laptops can actually burn your legs… and in men, kill sperm and damage your… well you know. I’m sure you (or maybe at least sarah) wouldn’t want that.
