breaking down

Wow, Air episode 5 was very moving. Even though i don’t know all the details of the three girl’s senarios (which is part of why watching this is fun for me - i won’t have the same joy with Clannad if its every animated because i have had a complete run down of each of the girl’s senarios :P) you can sense just some of the quickness with which is going, but the emotive quality of the episode overpowers those feelings quite well. Stunning job, really.

AIR is not for everyone, and i know that. The nice thing is, tho, that the quality of the show is such that even people that may not totally click with the story or whats going on tend to like it well enough. For people like me (who tend to like really weird emotional stories like this) it’s gold. Enough so that i’m almost afraid to watch it, sorta like, you want to wait to have time to really get into it.

Anyways, good episode. It really put me in an odd mood this morning. The scene where Mizuo breaks down just… i dunno. We all have times when we connect with a character in an anime more than just the normal ‘wow, i really liked that’. I’m a little disturbed by how i connected with ep 5, and how it hurt to watch that breakdown. Actually… i kinda understand why. Maybe it’s connected in some way with why people used to ask me why all the girls i draw are sad.

But that’s dowsing into parts of me where much of my creativity comes from, and thats for me to wonder about. All anyone else will ever see are just the reflections of it that come out in what i draw and write. :)

(more good impressions over on Hounto Ni Taihen Desu, scroll down a bit for AIr 5(no idea how to get a permlink from doug’s site.))

I feel like writing today. I suppose that’s the upshot of it all. Sometimes i wish i could just push aside all the other work and things that make for a busy week and keep me and sarah and the store and MT and everything going and just sit and write for a few days. Maybe i’ll have some time today, once we totally clear out the rest of the preorders and have them ready to be on their way monday…

    If you think episode 5 was sad, get ready for episode 6.

    I cried, a lot. :( I need tissues now. Waii!

    God I hate cliff hangers :/

    As not to destroy the story for you (though I guess you must have some idea since you played the game…) I must say the animation is wonderful. The eyes and movement of the hair is particularly impressive.

    I am really enjoying the series so far. Even though I feel like I have just been hit in the stomach.
    :( I need chocolate.

    It’s a good thing I’ve already seen epesode 5, or I would be very upset about that spoiler!

    I too think this show’s better because I don’t know the story before hand. I think half the fun’s gussing how it’s going to develop.

    Man, ever since you have started talking about the anime AIR Fred, I have been dieing to see it. I cant wait till Sun Cost up in the mall here in Battle Creek gets the anime on DVD. Becasue I dont think Adult Swim will show it on tv. or at least not anytime soon. :(
    Until then, Im just going to have to stick with Love Hina. :p

    I’m amazed by how tight a package Air is. In some ways, the fact it’s so perfect makes it difficult to write about. I’d spend too much time gushing about how pretty everything looks, or how solid the acting is, or how well the narrative is constructed - even despite the fast pacing.

    And, of course, Air’s story is probably better experienced than discussed. When I write that the final scene in Episode 5 “took my breath of way,” it’s only the half of it. I just can’t put the totality of my emotional response to that scene (or Misuzu’s breakdown scene, for that matter) into words.

    eh…??? Ep6 is out??? Crap!

    But yeah, I’m not surprised you feel like writing or whatever. Its called “Inspiration.” Heck, after watching a couple AIR episodes, I actually got quite a few poems and sketches out that turned out MUCH better than stuff I do when I’m bored.

    Ah, and I picked up MT3 today at Waldenbooks… heh… screw Chemistry… I’ll do that… later… ^_^;

    ep 5 was a real “blindside” … emotional and very well done. I’ve been trying to get ep 6 for the last two days but my sources are apparently getting hammered.

    I had no idea what to expect and had purely started watching on Fred’s recommendation. The comi-tragedy aspects provide a real rollercoaster for the brain.

    I find I have to watch something like Magical Girl Lyrical Nanaho to cool off.

    Episode 5 was a good one, i have to admit that. But you have to wait for Episode 6, you should get a box of tissue’s ready for that one. ^^

    *wonders where he can get a copy of the AIR Soundtrack*

    I love the soundtrack to Air as well!

    And ep.5? Uh… I think I can safely say all of the above… I got a bit emotional during that breakdown scene as well… (a bit? Ok, quite a bit)…

    Ep.6 is out? Gyaa!! I got into FFXI at the seriously wrong time!! Uguuu…

    ohh well.. ja ne… -_-;;

    epi 5 and epi 6 both took my breath away. I too loved the misuzu breakdown scene, it was rather shocking and made me like her a lot more. Rather disappointed at the fact that kano was nowhere to be seen though.

    My fav line (epi 6):
