Actually, i wonder if it’s self control or just waiting for a moment i can kick back a little, but i have the next ep of Mahoraba waiting here to be watched. Lotta things to do today, one of them being that i really need to get cracking on that Megatokyo calendar (i need to do 12 full color images in the next few months). Whee. For now, i can quickly poke jeff’s site for pretty pics of the episode, or for for even more spoilers i can check out the prettyness of the most recent jp episode on momotato…
pardon my brainlessness today. There’s a part of me that really wants to just curl up in my chair and cuddle a cup of hot chocolate and watch some stuff today, but i can’t let myself fall into that kinda of thing
I do have some sketches to post here on fredart, i should get busy with that.
In fact, i have some experimentations with painter IX that i should finish up and post. I really need to do more color art…

Watched two things last night for the first time:
Mahoraba ep. 1 and Kanon ep.1
Kanon is very … restful and I mean that in good way. I’m really sorry I put it off for so long. Its earlier vintage than Air is clear, but the art, direction, and voicework are stellar so far. Its very interesting to watch some of the inspiration for Warmth … kind of like watching the Hidden Fortress or the Seven Samurai… different yet familiar.
Mahoraba is very cute …. it reeks of Maison Ikkoku in the set up but I find it much more appealing (the story thread was good in Maisson but I just didn’t find the artwork or most of the characters appealing at all — just unpleasant, however, apparently it was quite trendsetting). I particularly liked the crayon intro and seque material. I do have to say, the inevitable inclusion of the drunken foxgirl stereotype gets a little grating in almost every anime but we’ll see how it develops.
Ah well.. I’ve hit my download “fair access policy” caps downloading the latest Knoppix distribution, so I have to wait til tonight to, um, the next installations of other items.
A big thanks for pointing Kanon and Mahoraba out.
I’ve been experimenting with Painter myself recently. I’m quite impressed with it, especially how easy texturing is and the speed in which I can do complete images. In fact, I liked it enough to purchase the full version (yay educational discounts). I’ve been making use of it for my digital imaging class already.
[fanboy] Is Mami going to be included in the calendar? It’s been so long since we saw her and Asako. [/fanboy]
Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey’s Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
