twins with guns
This is going to be a totally pointless blog entry, but i have to start somewhere.
Sorry for the lack of daily bloggage. Between the move and the subsequent trip up in my development and drawing cycle, its… been a month.
Things are settling down tho, and hopefully i can get into some sort of balanced routine for a while — i kinda need it.
I think starting over for friday was good idea. You have no idea how much better this comic is than the one i had before. It was like i was totally not paying attention to the characters. As always, the commentary on it was interesting. I’m going to have fun with this whole sequence, if i can pull it off. I’ve been listening to a LOT of industrial lately, just to get my mood down for the CoE stuff. Ya, yet another Itunes purchase (there’s something just right about the pirotune listed below when thinking about the CoE and Largo’s descent into it. :P) I’ve been good tho, i want to order two CDs (Imperative Reaction and Droom) but i can’t… justify… getting them.
On a side note, i’ve been thwarted recently. I’ve been trying to watch some raw jp eps of Mahoraba, and dammit if the source i’ve been using didn’t switch to WMV9… which i can’t play on a mac. Major bummer. Oh, and be sure to watch Futakoi Alternative. That’s an order. (pics here) I’m just dying with laughter over how they took an ABYSMALLY bad show (a lame harem anime involving sets of twins which made Sister Princess look good) and… just said “what the hell, it can’t get any worse” and had fun with it. heheh. Good stuff. At least for one episode so far.
Gotta remember to remind people about the WIzzywig signing next weekend. My first public appearance this year. Gee. I wonder if anyone will come…

Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OS X: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/software/macintosh/osx/default.aspx
Hopefully that’ll help you out some.

ah, but Media Player 9 wont play WMV9 format.
It’s an older player, they havent ported the most current WMP over to mac yet.

I’ve told the people in the MDT in SD that they need to pay attention to what you listen too. I don’t think that they believe me though

Huh… the supported codec list on that page says “Decodes content encoded with WMV v9″; I don’t use a Mac, though, so you’d know better than me, I suppose. ^^;
Maybe I’m just a sucker for harem series, but I don’t quite get what people find so bad about Sister Princess. The only one of the twelve that really gets on my nerves is Aria (and I don’t find her too bad). The animation style does get a little screwy sometimes (there’s been a couple times the faces have gone from “pretty good” to “WTF?” and back in the span of a few cuts), but it’s liveable.

hmmm, yeah I noticed the Maho raws were in WMV format — I’d ask WTF with that but would probably get flamed. Everyone else uses .avi files. If you specifically want the raws, you’ll have to get someone with a video ripper to convert them for you. Then again, perhaps you have enough presence to make the raw peoples aware that their audience includes Mac and Linux peoples…
all I can offer at the moment is subbed stuff up to #10. Otherwise you may just have to burn a few disks and then Go Meet THe Neighbors Who Have A PC.

Plus, there’s the fact that when WMP for Mac works, it sucks worse than just about any other program - media player, whatever - on the platform. Absolutely abysmal. I wonder if MS might have an agenda… I guess we’ll never know.

Breaking a rule here, but if I email Fred, he’ll never see it under the pile:
Go check out www2.l33t-raws.org — all the raws are .avi except for 11&12 which are .mkv (Xvid readable as opposed to DivX and .avi) — just search under torrents for Mahoraba

Shiori *main computer* cracked under pressure the other day, so I haven’t been able to check the Mahoraba files I just got…
I’m quite happy with the way today’s comic turned out. Great job.
Also happy that my mother caved in and let me buy something at Megagear. Needed to get a new lanyard for my school ID *honestly… why the hell do we need them!? To bribe parents of course :-p* and because of the shipping and handling, she let me buy something else in addition. That rerelease of the Kimiko Blanket.
As for the Windows problem you’re having… I really have no clue. I gave up on Windows Media Player a long time ago. I usually open .wmv files with DivX with no problems, so yeah.

Since I dont think I can edit my posts…
What I was trying to say in my babble above is that vlc should play it.. however i was unable to find a website with wmv 9 files to test it out on…

wheres the signing? I’d come if I could. :3 but then again I can’t drive. ^_^ Still love Miho’s dress, btw.

VLC will play most things you want to play on the Mac, but it won’t play the newer WMV stuff. You need Windows Media Player to play those files.
It seems that Microsoft is always one release behind (compatibility-wise) with their Mac player. WMP9 file support probably won’t be added until WMP10 (or whatever they call the next one) is the suggested codec on the Windows version.

Quick review of Tsukuyomi Moon Phase OST (The Best Collection):
I’d give it about a 75% decent tunery. I particularly liked the moody cello, mandolin, and harpsichord pieces, there were a couple of vocal tunes that have a nice Keltic mourning to them. There are several tunes with a vocal I’ll describe as frenetic Balkan - almost Arabic, a bit harder to listen to but okay in context with the other tunes. A few other tunes are Gothy breathless vocals - I liked them.
A few tunes are just goofy silly - a rendition of the old “soft shoe” song and some happy goofy things that sounded jpop elevatorish or Intermission Proceed To Concession Stand. I’m not fond of those.
And of course, the opening whacko tune: Neko Mimi Mode — you can’t tear yourself away and it destroys your insulin factories.
Bonus on the disk are a collection of six second vocals of Hazuki saying “Hazuki things” …. this has “replace the sounds on your computer” written all over it. Mind-draining cuteness.
The CD materials come with a paper doll cutout set that insane people might play “dress Hazuki” with… wierd. They’ve also drawn her younger than she appears in the series (where she has a real figure though very petite).
Hazuki’s age is never given that I’ve seen… so I just keep telling myself she’s 14-16. As high pitched as Hazuki’s voice is, its about the same pitch as my wife’s voice and they’re about the same size, shape, and hairstyle (she’s 4′11″). Naturally I’m attracted

Even though I’m sure the previous drafts of the strips weren’t the crap you believed them to be, you were right to start over. The new strips turned out really well, Fred. Excellent job. ^.^b
Microsoft hasn’t released any new proprietary software for the Mac in a loooong time (I’m not counting games, obviously), and I’m pretty sure it’s on purpose. I find this especially frustrating with MSNM when my brother, who’s in Japan atm, wants to spend some time playing MSN games with me and can’t because my client’s too farking old and thus incompatible. Rage.
