the joys of catching up

Wah, this will teach me to let everything drop for several weeks as i sop through my ‘creative’ moods. Meh. The last time i looked at a to do list was weeks ago, and there are all sorts of things on here that i’ve been sort of, uh, ignoring. This list is gonna give me a headache…

The snow yesterday was oddly refreshing and yet ultimately irritating. You’d think someone who routinely lives through michigan winters would be able to get through one freak day of snow in April without near frostbite on his hands and extreme frustration with the wind and snow. Meh.

In the end, i didn’t have as much trouble doing todays comic as many of the more recent ones. Yes, threading two story arcs happening at the same time is a real bitch, because you have to act out in your head two totally different scenarios, and then make them actually relate the way you saw them relating in your head. Not so easy when you have to have solid, believable words down. Some thought that Kimiko’s dialogue was a little too pat, but i dunno, she’s speaking from the gut, to me, so i think it’s pretty close.

Finally, got a new upgrade to Ecto today and waaiiiii… it’s super spiffy. Very nice. This program really does make blogging easier and more fun… at least, on the OSX platform.

Since i intend to blog more, i’ll leave comments open for a few days before closing them on more recent blogs.

Speaking from the gut? That’s the impression I got as well!
Kimiko’s allways been worring about these games ‘toying with our emotions’ (so to speak), and now that she’s met two people that don’t seem to care, she’s stading up for what she believes in!

    At least… That’s my impression…

    What was it Megumi said?
“You think it’s wrong to promote the fantasy that the character actually cares for the. But the weird thing is, you do care, so you’ll turn down the role.”

I think this reflects that… True, it’s kinda odd seeing Kimiko angry like that, but it’s not the first time for that either…. (she just happens to be sobre this time…)

But I can’t help but feel sorry for Ping tho…

You’ll be happy to know a Castle Anthrax satire of Piro in the CoE with Largolot “rescuing him” (not) has erupted in the MDT. The idea is actually rather funny for a DPD.

Mahoraba: ep 11 and 12 - both uber excellent but sadly too short.

Negima: getting a lot better, hopefully they’ll redo the earlier eps for OVA/DVD.

TMP: I’ve seen all the raws by now but its nice to get the subs (up to 16 now) to get the nuances in dialog I miss. 16 is pretty good considering its “filler” designation.

Futukoi Alternative: willing to download the second ep so I guess I’m liking it.. depends on the character depth, if it is just explosions and chases then it’ll trail off for me.

He is My Master: bleh.. some nice drawing and the sisters are kind of neat… but the rich kid reminds me of Montana Max of Tiny Toons (whom I never cared for much). First one I’ve seen where the ages are left so unambiguous (14 and 13 for the sisters), atleast Hazuki I can move the age slide up to something I’m comfortable with (14-16)… but that’s just my problem. The alligator (Pocchi?) is completely whacko insane and funny…. I guess in some wierd way the show reminds me of what Tiny Toons might have been with humans and after locking all the censors up.

When i read MT i don’t quite ponder on the character’s personality. I sort of drink it all in, and take what they say for what it is.

Nevermind the outbursts and the oddness of MT characters tend to be, i find it more enjoyable if you go with how you feel.

    Motion of the ocean.

about the snow, i know how you feel. being from n.c., i’m still not used to wisconsin weather, and when I woke up one morning and saw snow, I nearly screamed. It’s the end of April for crying out loud! Why’s it snowing?!

Yay for Kimiko!! Boo for Ping!! XP

Yeah, spring snows do suck. Talked to my folks in the mountains of NC– they got 7 inches of snow on Sunday. It all melted that day, but still, it’s a pain in the butt.

Nice to see Piro getting more animated in recent strips. Well, not just Piro, but it seems like all of the characters are stretching themselves emotionally. Good job. ^^b

I sat through all 13 eps of tortuous mediocrity that is Futakoi, and it made Futakoi Alternative that much funnier. I’m looking forward to this series now. I was so glad to see the male lead replaced… I wanted to beat the original one in Futakoi into a pulp. Many times. Then again, I also wanted to beat the writers into a pulp, too.

Of course, the idea of an Alternative made me wonder which other series could use an Alternative version, and then I realized just about any series that takes itself waaay too seriously could use one. No surprise that I’m also a big fan of Fumoffu.

Naturally, I’d love to see Maria-Sama Alternative, where instead of worrying about such dangerous situations as how to eat hamburgers without silverware, instead they incinerate small cities. :D “Onee-sama, where’s the C-4? I can’t take this building out with Thermite alone!”

Oh, good news: Mai/MyHime is getting a second season. Heh heh heh, the “HimeLander” in the first series was great– I wonder what they’ll do for an encore.
