Ok, not too many people screaming for my head or threatening to no longer read Megatokyo any more on account of non story related content
Yet i have to say, after August, i really REALLY owe you people an unbroken stream of story comics for a good long while, and i’m going to make it a priority to do so.
Seraphim really has done a lot of research and work on seeing what we can do to offer products that may have a little less impact on the environment. There’s no way you can be totally ‘green’ and people and companies that over do it tend to go a little overboard, which we think turns a lot of general consumers off. What works best, we feel, is a reasonable level of some kind of awareness that can help out in small ways, and if nothing else gets people to think about such things. I know i’m going to get (and have received already) some general bitching about using Megatokyo to preach ‘messages’ to people and how they dont come here for this kinda bullshit, that they are getting frustrated with the slow progress of chapter 7 so far. My answer to them us - tough shit. This is something Sarah worked very hard on and is important to her, and i wasn’t going to blow off all of her hard work just because i have had trouble getting Chapter 7 up to speed this month.
That said, after i take care of some things here i am going to see about getting some new sketches up here on fredart, and start moving forward on other story related things. Most of you have been very supportive of everything we do here at MT, and you have no idea how much Sarah and I appreciate it.

I actually like the idea of supporting the environemnt. This just makes it easier ^_^ I can do something I was going to do anyway (buy from MegaGear) and help the environment a bit. It forces me to help the environment. For example the fact that gas is $3.29 a gallon here makes it so that I can’t buy gas to mow my lawn therefore not polluting the atmosphere further. Anyway, keep up the hard work on chapter 7. As long as the comics are good I don’t care if we only get one story comic per week ^_^
Second that. MT has (of necessity? :P) always been about quality, not quantity. Be Valve, not EA. You’re doing fine.
I completetly support what you and Sera are doing. And I also completely support you telling the flamers what they can go and do with themselves if they like it not. Keep up the excellent work.
We’re all proud of you Fred, for the work you’ve been doing. I personally don’t think that you’re anywhere near going overboard with using MT as a soapbox. I think that your core readership won’t mind it at all if you decide to use MT as an avenue for ideas. Considering the level of content we see on the net anyways, at least something as well-researched as what you and Seraphim put together is very worthwhile. Liked the ‘hemp’ strip a lot. I hope we don’t see any spinoff commentary on ‘Piro’s l33t n3kkid skillz’ though…Largo’s was, frankly, quite enough! XD.
Okay, what’s the point of writing a rant and/or blog if you don’t put your personal thoughts and beliefs into it. People in general are stupid and can’t resonably be expected to understand, much less tolerate the views of others. Welcome to the “me generation” so work on the story at your own pace and forget about them! >.<
I’m not surprised nobody is screaming for your head, that was such a funny comic! As for the message, well between the comic and Seraphim’s rant I feel so much more informed now, although a part of me does want to emulate the comic Piro we saw today after buying some hemp clothes. ^_^;
Kudos for the addition of the hemp-based products in MegaGear! I greatly appreciate the balanced approach. “Thoughtful” wins friends; “fanatical” alienates people.
Don’t worry about it Fred. Like we here at(the future) Wicked Alchemists Studios say to the nay sayers out there, “Hate mail us, complain about us or insult us but least tomorrow we can be secure in what we do….unlike you no life bastards out there.” You do a great job and I think it’s kinda cool that you allow your fans to peek into your ultra secret private lives (lol) since I think it kinda bridges a small gap between artist and fan that very few comic artists do these days. Good luck with chapter 7 and later days!
Dont worry about the lack of story based material. I completely support what ur doing, Sometimes its nice to stray from the story anyway and add a lil bit of randomness in there.
Oh btw Gj on introducing hemp into megagear, cant wait to see what other ways it gets introduced (hemp coffee lol )
Haha… you both built an instinct into me after that strip. Now I checked all my shirts to see if I have any hemp-made products.
So that 97% actually finished? Lucky. I still need to check out the series itself.

i support anything MT dose as long as you make good art im happy and the comic was funny.people are stupid to stop reading mt cas you dint post a story atlest they get a comic
hey i love your site!!!you doing great!!!o and dont think that you backround and stuff is bad cuase you probibly draw beter than anyone that reads your comics.piro is awsome!i would by some of your products but i dont have that kind of money. T_T i would need more alowence….bye bye ^-^
I found today’s comic to be really funny, and also very cool of you and Seraphim to put a positive twist on a fairly serious topic. You two are realliy creative and I’m looking forward to the upcoming comics. Just receiving a comic (off-topic or not) is great in itself.
Thank you (and Seraphim) for all of your hard work ^^
The comic was great, couldn’t stop laughing. An if there’s anyone over the ocean that you need ‘talked’ to dont worry, all we need is an address
You’s two are doing a great job with the comic an the store, I still need to sit down an see what I’m going to order. Descisions descisions, hehe love the overclocked cap, reminds me of so many burnt out cpu’s.
Enjoy the weekend
I think what you’re doing is great! I’ve learned that you cannot please everyone, so you have to do what you think is best, because in the end that’s what matters most! Judging by the reactions on here, I think you’re doing something great! It’s nice to see that you’re using such a wonderful form of media to bring up issues like this, it gets everyone involved. I certainly learned something new! Thanks to you both for the excellent work, please keep it up! ^.^ I love the way that you’re both trying so hard to do something like this, and I’m really inspired to try harder too.
I agree!
Especially after (finally) seeing ‘The Day After Tomorow’
If I could, I would start only buying hemp sketchbooks from now on! But alas, I dont know anywhere that stocks them, nor can I exactly affort to repeatedly order them off of Megagear when I need a new one…
Next time I order off of Megagear though, I’ll add one to my basket as well though!
Now if only we could find another fuel(sp?) source other than petrol/gas/deisol, then things could get better (at least a little) quicker…
Note:
I’m not saying that I believe that what happened in that movie will actually happen, but it is a really worrying thought that it COULD happen…
