teh labor never ends…

I have been amazingly sluggish in getting myself going this morning. Could be the nice weather, it could just be some relief from feeling that MT is flowing again - this makes no one happier than me. :P What i managed to forget to do yesterday, of course, was something i had promised to do for Hawk, and then i totally screwed up the advertising on the MT site - again… I guess i’m never going to change, am i? I also have to finish that Otakon rant and finish pulling all of those pictures together. Labor day indeed. Well, it’s fun stuff, i guess :)

The first thing i am going to do this morning, however, is finish my Katrina relief information page. Since the relief effort for this is going to be ongoing for a very long time, and i do worry that once it disappears off the TV screens and stops providing them footage that they can use to make deep, emotive photographic montages set to stirring music, that people will will feel everything is ok and not realize that help will be needed for a very long time. Also, there are a lot of smaller things people and companies are doing, and i figure it’d be nice to be able to just provide some info to readers so they can do something if they feel like it.

So, i’m off to finish that up. On a minor note, i did all of monday’s comic on my 12″ powerbook - scanning, clean up, assembly - i was at Old Home and just didn’t feel llike going into teh factory. It’s really bizzare going from a 23″ ACD screen to a 12″ powerbook screen. You learn to appreciate ’screen real estate’. Well, you can’t beat the powerbook for portability. :)

Final note - Tomoyo Again - It’s a wonderful life hit’s streets in november, but there is a AVI demo film for it that was on the DVD they were handing out at Comiket. Also of note is a new Lia tune for the OP called Light Colors. yes, i’m a softie for Lia, and it’s a damn nice tune. I hate Key, have i said that before? Honestly, the art style of Tomoyo After seems a little off to me, but i’m curious about the story. Also, note that this isn’t an all ages game like Clannad is. ^^;; And, of course, while grabbing URLS for this i note that there are two new Clannad CDs out too - an Image album and a Remix album. Bastards.

Ok, back to work.

Lia needs to show up to cons a la KOTOKO. Having these song artists perform might spark public interest in the sources, and then maybe VN translations won’t be too far off.

And a free disc with the .avi? Damn.

    Screen real-estate is why I have a 17″ Powerbook… heh. I have a bigger PB than Piro… *dances*

Anyways, It’s a nice thing you’re doing for us, Piro. While it’s almost nice and well over at my house now (the concrete is so cold), grandmother, uncle, and other family and friends are just not doing as well. Every little bit helps. The Red Cross has been giving out hot meals, and that means ALOT to those who are cooking canned food and even eating cold beans.

    Who said MREs aren’t tasty…

My laptop died on me a while back, Fred, so my ’screen real estate’ for it remains at 0. So sad, but my 20 inch desktop is just fine ^^. At any rate, what you say is a valid point, about the Katrina efforts. All too often, if isn’t on the news, people just don’t CARE, and even then…only sometimes. But don’t beat youself up over the ad thing. As for anime-related stuff, I was at AnimeBoston earlier this year, and Ishida Yoko did a concert there. A real waste of time, considering she was lip-synching and didn’t even bother bringing her band. I honestly think until Japanese artists can start giving their U.S. concerts more consideration and quality, we need less artists to come over and more consistency and quality from them. By the way, on a side note, Fred, have you noticed that a lot of anime art today has started sort of flowing into a very generic style, kind of like what’s happened to XEBEC and all its affilliates? It’s so sad. General art quality has gone up, but there’s rarely anything ‘unique’ anymore (not since X anyways). So sad.

as awesome as the new Lia tune sounds, i can’t get over the fact that you call your house “old home”.
    you’re my hero, fred.

hehe, it’s so natural now that i don’t even think about it. it IS an old house, after all :P ‘teh factory’ is an appropriate name for where my studio is, too :P
