It did something yesterday that it hasn’t done a lot of around here - it rained. It’s raining off and on here this morning, and unlike many parts of the country, it’s kind of a welcome change from the dry weather we’ve been having. Fits my mood for the day, too
Suffering from a real lack of focus this morning. maybe some coffee will help. I hate being an emotively driven person… sure, it helps me do what i do, but damn it can be a bitch to live with sometimes.
Going to go clean up around the house. that’s usually good for clearing the head. I’ll prolly be back a little later. I did some interesting sketches of Saeko last night. Without a doubt, i’m having trouble ‘finding’ her right now… but i’ve had that trouble before with other characters… it just means i need to look harder.

It’s the complete opposite here, lots of rain an hardly any dry weather. Oh well, at least we won’t suffer from water shortage anytime soon so thats a positive.
Cleaning the house is always good for clearing your head an getting idea’s at least for me it is anyway. You also tend to remember stuff you forgot to do as well, so sometimes it can mean extra work which isn’t such a good thing sometimes.
Sorry to hear about the boo plushie, but as soon as they come in the boo army will march. Me an some friends are already making room on the shelf for them. Just need to hope the dog or the cat doesn’t think its dinner
Oh an say to Dom that I don’t reccomend telling the other fan’s to ’suck it’ espically when your parent’s happen to be watching the match on tv. Doesn’t go down to well.
Enjoy the weekend an don’t work too hard
This is a ways of topic and I know that Mr. Gallagher is an extremely personal and busy guy, but it has been years since the new site layout has been introduced and there is still no summary on The Story section nor a completed Character profile page. “I’ll finish this section when I feel like it” has been idling for way too long. There are many talented and knowledgeable MT fans that are members of the message boards, why not issue a contest to help fill in these sections that are long overdue for an update?
Probably because he’s now promising to introduce a NEW new site layout
But Piro: if it helps, I find that sitting for a while surrounded by old drawings of a character (rough sketches, finished pictures, whatever) and just looking at them, noticing the little things I like and don’t like about each, really helps me focus on the character and “find” them again.
warmth! We need warmth! ^^
Finally rained here today after several months of almost-no-rain in Oregon…. longgggg overdue - particularly irritating since rainy foggy days were one of the reasons I moved here (I happen to love dismal weather).
Concerning the site remarks… Fred said ages ago that “character summaries” were kind of an injustice to complex characters … and story summaries… well they’re just worthless. Read the freaking story! “I don’t have time to read all the strips, someone summarize” is a massive copout — like just reading the last few chapters of Lord of the Rings.
I made the recommendation once that the story and character links should just drop the reader onto strip number one.
Having someone else do websites is a loss of creative control, even if you still maintain oversight control. At this point, those links are a running gag that make up the “gestahlt” that is Megatokyo.
Anime-watch: Fred, watched the available fansub eps of Shuffle! …. the premise is idiotic but no worse than, say, Mork and Mindy. The characters are a hoot though… particularly Asa-chan. It has some very witty and realistic dialog — these are funny people. About the only thing I dislike are the scary “groupies”.
Still recommend Suzuka and Honey&Clover for character development (even if the characters are unlikeable at times).
one of the reasons i’ll probably never ever do the character and story sections is because people never stop bugging me about it. There used to be one, but people just bugged me non-stop about updating it so… i figure, people will complain no matter what i do so the hell with it, i’ll just worry about the comic.
as for the website, i put the new site on hold a year ago because i want to redo some things. To date, i have always err’d on spending time on the comic over doing things like website programming, etc. The comic is better as a result (i think). It’s just a personal crap ass website, so there’s no point in trying to fix it.
if i keep at it, i can avoid ever fixing the MT site and finally move onto something better. MT is a project that really needs end, the sooner the better. The best way to do that is to focus on the comic itself
Did Fred say “MT”, “Really Needs”, and “End” in the same sentence?
Oh well… we’ll just see what else he’ll have up his sleeves.
I’m looking forward to “warmth” and other things Fred might do…. I love MT but one of the things I *like* about manga series is that they have beginnings and endings — and MT should have a satisfactory closure (or an annoying one
).
If MT didn’t have a satisfying end, there would be riots in the streets….
