In all honesty this really is just a random sketch. For some reason last night i found myself wandering aimlessly on my sketchbad, and oddly enough, it actually produced some scannable sketches. I’m not really sure about the dress, either in design or where it may have come from - it’s rare for me to draw female characters without some sort of defining line at the hip (seperate tops / bottoms or seams in dresses) but oddly enough it works in this one. Material of the dress? With that collar, it gives the impression of being a knit of some sort… kinda scary, if you think about it, a knit dress of that length. Saeko’s expressions, possible meaning behind these sketches as they surface? Can’t tell ya
Nice sketch! I really like the way the hair turned out too.
I’m sure I’ve seen knitted dresses before at that length so it’s not unfathomable. Come to think of it, I wouldn’t mind getting a dress like that myself.
Ooo interesting! I like the collar of the dress, but it doesn’t really seem to go with the length of it, but other than that it’s a wonderful sketch!
*claps* Fred is on a ‘Warmth’ kick!!
I don’t usually comment here, but I gotta say, I really love this sketch. Her expression just REALLY appeals to me for some reason. Definetely my favorite sketch you’ve done recently.
Intense.
It is exciting to see your drawings so directly, and so clearly. Wow.

Can I buy this one? (Seriously.)

She caught you looking, didn’t she? The wind caught her by surprise, and you saw what she didn’t mean to show you.
Or maybe she wasn’t exactly surprised. She wasn’t half as quick as you know she can be. Then there were those delicious stockings….
Fred, I love her eyes. There’s just hint of felinity there. The flow of her hair is wonderfully echoed by the flow of her dress.
If there is any flaw, I might say that she could use a bit more hip.
Is there some reason these things don’t get threads started for them in the Drawing Discussion forum?
Very interesting indeed. Almost reminds me a little of the famous Marilyn Monroe photo…just a little bit. I sat there for a moment pondering on the lenght of the skirt. It works, but it doesn’t feel much like a realistic modern outfit. I’m not sure how else to describe it.
I had the Monroe photo in mind, too, but I suspect this dress, being a thick warm knit rather than summer gauze, being blown from the side rather than from underneath, and not being pleated, would not have risen in the same way.
Oddly enough, if you think of Stevie Nicks of “Fleetwood Mac” fame, she wears that particular style (okay, admittedly, it’s more like a long knit skirt, but you get the idea).
Very nice drawing of Saeko. She looks more mature and ladylike with the longknit that size, and the collar of the dress adds gentleness to her pose.
In other words, girls in sweaters are your thing Fred :).

Definitely a keeper design there. I love the cryptic expression on her face. She looks… tired… weary, and lonely, to me, but her eyes don’t look like she’s appealing for help, just … tired. Where’s Tom when you need him?
A long knit dress is just the thing for the girl who’s always cold. When I was in college in Boston I used to have two or three of those (mine didn’t have that kind of collar that I recall - one might have). One needs a slip under it (I had two full slips, nightgown-like things, for the dresses) mainly because of static clinginess.
You can’t tell how long it is, it might be just below the knee or it might be ankle length. I don’t think it’s scary at all.
And no, that kind of dress does not blow upward! It’s far too clingy and heavy. Even in a hurricane probably.
Holy shit Fred. The look on her face. It’s dead sexy. Maybe I am reading it wrong, but there is just kind of a hungry look there. Something very “bad girl” about this sketch that appeals to me.
