In regards to the Megatokyo forums, things are more or less looking ok for the table repair to be finished tonight. Based on our past experience with these rebuilds, and having used the proper settings this time, the table should be repaired by tonight. No guarantees, of course, and god only knows if we will have any other problems when we try to open the boards back up. If something goes wrong, we will open a new, temporary forum for people to use while we wait for the hamsters to fix things. It’s been over a week, and i’m more than a little upset about this, but there has been little else we can do to get things re-opened till the table repair is finished. Once it is done, I’ll be pushing hard to make sure things get changed so this doesn’t happen again… famous last words, of course, but there are some things we DO need to fix.

It’s been kind of a weird couple of weeks… in fact, i tend to roll from weird week to weird week. The balance of things i have to do vs the things i manage to get done is as out of wack as always, and the onset of some pretty nasty hay fever is helping oh so much I have to start catching up with Shuffle again (next ep is the beach ep. Ah, the cliché! but yet we still flock towards these episodes with glee:P) I am in desperate need of more subbed episodes of Kamichu (i really like the show for some reason), and for weirdness sake i have more eps of PetoPeto-san ready to watch. When i have some time. I also started watching Zettai Shounen just because… sill not really sure what the show is about yet

Fall is coming, my favorite time of the year. In recent years things have been too crazy for me to enjoy it much, and i hope that this year is a little different. It’s the best time of year for writing, for me

Well… the table repair on the MT forums is STILL going. I can watch the progress of the thing, it’s still chunking away at it. But it’s been working at it for almost 4 days now, and i can’t believe that is right. The MT forums have never been down this long (at least not in recent years) and I would really like to apologize to the MT forum community for this downtime. I’m actually really upset about this, and the feeling of helplessness is awful. I’ve already spoke at length with Cortana about some of the changes that have to be made (some of which are very much in line with many of the suggestions offered by many of you who have emailed me with suggestions for fixing the problems with mySQL). All i can say is that the repair is still in progress, and has gone way beyond the 2 day timespan it usually requires, and all we can do is wait till it is finished. If it’s not done by sunday night, i’ll look into getting some additional help to fix the problem.

Regardless, i intend to have efforts made so that this does not happen again. Friends and forumites have that it’s ok, don’t worry about it, it will be fixed when it’s fixed, but… it’s a community, and it’s not right that because of problems on our side the community has had to vanish for an entire week. Not cool, and i’ll try to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
