a treat

Ok, this has been a MOST crappy week. So crappy that i’m happy to say that i’ve started to find it all… amusing. Big things? Small things? yep, if it could have gone wrong this week, it did. I even had to tell Dom to please not make fun of me in a SGD about it all… i know he wanted to.

Feh. Well, it’s friday, the week is almost over, and i can look forward to better things (or ever greater disasters) next week, right? A blah week for comics too, because i have not really been able to spend any time on them. What i did get done was done in the cracks, and … it shows, i think. Friday’s comic was ok, but its less than what people expect from me these days (if i were to do this comic this way from the outset, i would have framed things differently and had 2 more frames) but i it works as is. I debated re-doing it, but that would just really delay things that much more for people. You can’t always do your best work, sometimes you have to get by with what you can manage.

As a treat for CGers and for people who just like to look at this stuff (i’ve had some requests) i’ve uploaded two frames from the comic, mainly frame 01 and frame 03 for your use. In frame one, there is a little detail that got cropped includes Dom’s tie as he pulls away, and frame 3 was pretty heavily cropped in the comic, so… yeah.

Some raw frames, just for fun, and in perhaps a small way to make up for this pretty crappy week. Thanks for suffering through it with me.

Thanks for the images Fred, here’s hoping that next week goes better!

Thank you very much for the tie. There’s an argument going on about how poor Erika’s striking technique is, based on the idea that she missed landing a blow. This makes it absolutely clear she missed a grab.

In fact, this clarifies the action so much, I have to wonder why you cropped that critical detail in the first place.

Whatever, I’m very glad to see the uncropped frame.

striking technique? No, Erika is not a hitter, she’s a graber and breaker :P I guess it never occured to me that people might think she was trying to hit him. Funny how it never occured to me that people might not automatically understand that she was trying to grab him. :P

Fred, I’ve been following MT for quite a while now, and every time your comic falls over, we see you hit yourself for it maybe thinking that people get annoyed for waiting (which might be the case), but if people really like something, the anticipation of the next comic makes any fallovers even more exciting. Yes we all need to learn from our mistakes, but we are only human, some more talented than others, but still human. Don’t beat yourself up because you messed up on a comic or two, it makes the comic more personal, it shows that you have put time and effort into it, and I’m sure people understand that (if they don’t they should be elsewhere). I’m not comparing your work to any great art, but it is your passion for the work that gives it life.

On the positive side there are even more people supporting MT and FredArt because of the human element (that’s just my opinion).

That’s because her fingers aren’t stretching up and open in a grabbing position. The wrist-down pose you’ve got for her there looks closer to a punch than a grab.
