Well, that was painful. I just put in my order for Adobe Creative Suite 2 premium (upgrade from Photoshop for Mac) Ouch. 
Still, i think it’ll be worth the upgrade. I have been using Photoshop 7 and Illustrator 10 for almost 2 years now, i skipped on upgrading to CS the first time around (especially in light of some of the performance problems associated with the first versions of CS) but i’ve finally had it with Illustrator crashing on me with the regularity it does (for some reason, it has always been somewhat unstable when you start working with text. not really sure why). I can’t count how many times i’ve almost had the comic done, finally tweaked some bit of text just the right way and boom - it crashes. Sure, lots of saves mean i just lost 15 min of work but sometimes in that 15 min you managed to turn some bit of dialogue around just right… and after re-loading you just can’t get it back to that point. >_<
Anyways, it is expensive, but i use this software to make my living, so it’s worth the investment. Its kinda weird, but this mac i bought well over 2 (3?) years ago is still going strong. Sure, i’d love to get a brand new Quad 2.5 Ghz G5 with a 30″ Apple Cinema Display with all the trimmings, but honestly, my Dual 1.25 ghz G4 and 23″ Apple Cinema Display are holding up quite well.
Been feeling really bleah lately… not sick, just bleah. So much for my ‘blog every day’ goal… it’s not dead yet, and i need to shake myself out and get cracking on some things. Little project i was working on over the weekend is going well, but i gotta finish it >_< Always too much to do, always too much to do…

I’m a bit of a n00bish manga-ka, so I was wondering, how do you format the little picture boxes and text on photoshop? I’ve always tried to draw the boxes, but that never quite worked out… Do you draw each panel on an individual piece of paper and then scan it in…? Saa… I apologize if it’s a stupid question.

I think you’ll really enjoy the CS2 capabilities. One of the strongest things they have done is to start unifying the products, they’re by no means one big mega-software, but it’s waaay easier to move between titles now than it used to be.
I make my living with CS2 as well and its a painful bit of pocketchange.. but i’ve found it well worth it.
BTW, adobe bridge is the devil
they’ve added some smaller bits of programs in that are auto-run, you’ll want to kill them from your startup menu. The auto-update software is a memory hog and there’s a photo-downloader that takes over everything when you hook up to a camera or storage device… So I guess I should have said something more like: If you can keep those 3 under control THEN CS2 is really awesome 
Dude, do you even Ebay? You have got to start cuz you could have got that for like 1/3 of the price >_<. I hope you got a manga artist discount. Do they have those? cuz they should!
i dont believe in trying to get cheap prices from disreputable retailers. I prefer to get straight up honest licences.
and there are no discounts for manga artists, sadly

Hey, love the comic, good luck with it all. Just dropped this post to ask what city you live in. Coming from Aus the manga/anime scene isn’t so big but I try to keep up. Eh, its not always retailers. Sometimes people just don’t have a use for something or change their mind about a product and they sell it. But I can understand. Some people are wary of online auctions and for good reason. I for one actually believe for the first time that I’ve gotten ripped off on ebay $430 for an Xbox 360, but then again I didn’t send the money very securely so 50% of the blame falls on me
Actually, I think I’m going to cutback ebaying myself. I’ve wasted too much money recently on anime and as of now I’m unemployed….

I snared the Shuffle! DVD ep 2 with the Nerine bonus CD and CDROM …. some sweet music in there … and I mean sweet (as in not phat, kewl, or other stupid slang). … on a random side note, I can’t believe I’ve been roaming anime for a couple of years and somehow missed the Azumanga anime and manga …. its like finding Calvin and Hobbes for the first time again.
