food and shame

It took a while to realize just why i had a headache today and why my head has been feeling wonky - it’s because i gave up caffeine a few days ago. Green tea in its many varieties is actually a good replacement for my beloved coffee (sniff) but it seems my head isn’t being fooled by the cessation of the caffeine flow :) I’ve even been using Soy Milk on my Wheaties recently (and before you go -gag-, it’s surprisingly not bad. Soy milk kinda has a nutty flavor to it that doesn’t bother you at all when had with cereal). I’m healthy enough, but looking down the road we kinda felt it was time I stopped eating like a teenager. :P When you consider the fact that one of my favorite bachelor-day foods was spring pasta with mayonnaise, parmesan cheese and salt (a dish that sarah has steadfastly forbidden me ever consider eating again lest my internal organs explode in a monty-python-esque fashion) i’ve come a long, long way in eating healthier. I’ll never be a health nut, but if i can get myself into habits that are less likely to kill me, i might actually live to finish this damn comic. :P

Things have been pretty hectic for the past few days - got a few big things coming up in the next few weeks, should be fun for everyone (I hope). Also, there will be a few less people in the world over the next few days after i kill them. You see, this morning i broke down and preordered this Sakagami Tomoyo PVC figure. (Tomoyo is from Clannad, in case you haven’t been following my rantings) There are a number of people who, over the past few years, i have sworn would have to die if i ever broke down and got into collecting figures. You know who you are, and i do blame all of you for this. Don’t bother trying to hide, i will find you. :P Ah, hell. its cute, and i can put her with the Ruri PVC figure I have (that one was a gift). I suppose it was inevitable. Reminds me of Sight a little…

I also downloaded a series to watch just because there is a cute character in it. You ever have a show that for the most part you dont like but there is one character that just makes it all worth watching? It’s a show that i’d never normally watch, not with all the great shows out there full of fun characters, relationships, cuteness, etc. I just dont watch mecha shows, don’t like the genre that much. Lemii finally got me. I just couldn’t take the pressure of the fanart and the general cuteness, so i broke down and pulled down some Zoids Genesis episodes to watch. Yes, pathetic. But hey, i watched all of YAT Anshin! and enjoyed the hell out of that, so why not :)

back to work on the comic. :)

Ah, yes, sounds familiar, I get a bit weird in the head in weekends as well whan I drink no coffee. Still I’m a teenager so, well, yeah, I like to think I can afford it :)
I have never had soy milk, i think. Sounds like something to try, though - there have been few things I’ve eaten that I really didn’t like :p

Go you for having the self-control, anyway.

I’ve never had soy milk, though I’m quite fond of Rice Dream(milk-like rice drink).
As for eating healthy, could just start eating like a Japanese person: rice, vegetables, fish, poultry, and that sort of stuff.

Cute series rarely get me. I may be female, but I just plain like the bloody violent stuff. For me to stomach cuteness, it must be paired with a truly great plot, death and violence, or some combination there-of.

    \o/ Zoids

Not that I’ve seen any of Genesis, but I’ve heard good things. I haven’t even seen the last half of Fuzors, since it wasn’t getting good enough ratings for Cartoon Network to keep it on.

And in a strange twist of fate, it seems that Lemii-chan is voiced by someone named Kimiko…

    Reguarding Mondays comic;

I see Largo is back to his old self again! It’s kinda unnerving seeing someone like him get depressed over something… So seeing him back to his regular self is a good thing… I wonder what crazy things are gonna happen at dinner…?

Nice to know I’m not the only one suckered into a series by a cute character (for me it was Lady Subaru of .hack//sign). Good luck with your new eating regimen–and I pity you for your fall into figure collecting. Welcome to my nightmare.

    Life… with… out… coffee… ?
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(can you tell I’m an addict?)

Zoids! Zoids! Zoids! I am familiar with Chaotic Century(<3Love it!<3), Zoids with Bit(bleah) and Fuzors *gag*…but Zoids Genesis? hmm… this requires research…

First off.. I *loathe* Silk ….. it tastes like.. contaminated water. On the other hand, I love SunSoy, Organic Valley’s soymilk (regional brand), and something called Ota. So if you don’t like soy milk, try other brands… they aren’t the same.

Coffee vs tea…. I drink a lot less coffee than I used to (green tea varieties — especially hoji-cha [roasted with rice]) but its hard to let go of that morning cup with hot cocoa dumped in it.

gah… my dad used to whitebread-mayonaisse sandwiches… he died at 60 (but because he failed to lose weight until he gave himself diabetes and a quad bypass and a stroke)….

Figurines…. I haven’t *quite* gone nuts. But I’ve decided to collect the Shuffle! line and the Nanoha line. Otherwise, I’ve got that 10 figure Tsukuyomi Moon Phase (all Hazuki all the time) and my prize 12″ resin Motoko from Love Hina…. we’ll try to hold it down after that.

But see.. I blame you for all this :)

I agree that soy milk is pretty good, but I’m the only one in my family who drinks it AND regular milk (soy milk straight from the carton!)

As for coffee and tea…I’ve gotta go with the tea. I never really liked the taste of coffee but tea is what seems to be better at keeping me focused…and it makes my mother stop bugging me about drinking right.

Figure-wise…I honestly don’t own any, but have been considering hunting down the FF7:AC Cloud and Fenrir figures and I have yet to find the little Ocarina of Time figures that I know exist. Meh…I have time.

Sorry Piro…I can only blame you for any random inspiration I get from looking through your sketches.

Soy milk is the regular for me. Its good stuff.

if you only have 2 figurines, you dont have a collection, YET. Beware.

well, that was intersting. That was the most agressive case of comment spam i’ve dealt with so far. at least 200 entries across 4 posts, always different names and even different ip addresses (altho from the same block). I need to keep a better eye on keeping older topics closed :)

  14. vexx says:

“comment spam” is impacting forums, email (I get the mostlovely email from “uenifwp” … it has no actual meaning, advert, or virus, or evil links… its just noise). I can only equate it to random poo throwing monkeys.

Anyway, lovely strip today with Largo and Erika … personally fond of it because it kind of defines my wife and I —- we don’t *need* each other (in that codependent you make me complete or I can’t afford to live on my own kind of way). We *choose* to run together (or at least in parallel tracks). Not going to attach a lot of connection but it did make me kind of transiently happy to see such a relationship/bond described in a story/manga. It is definitely a rare thing to see it in manga or anime (atm, only Suzuka comes to mind as coming close …. maybe Lamune but thats harder to call since they spend nearly their entire lives in close proximity).

Interesting strip and I’m sure one that’ll cause some consternation in the forum SD pit.

I recommend all LEGITIMATE posters take a break til Fred is able to block the assholes responsible for this bilge.

Just takes all the fun out of the net, doesn’t it?

  16. fredrin says:

the ip range is in scandenavia, and the domain is russian. typical stuff. Banning the entire range from even accessing the site, so that should help :)

  17. Caffeine is bad stuff :p I used to drink cola like it was water when I was a kid, it wasn’t ’till I quit that I realized how bad it was messing me up, hell, I didn’t realize that having constant splitting headaches wasn’t normal :p .

  18. The Weaver says:

I’m agreeing with vexx…someone fscked with my post.

  19. vexx says:

My post above makes more sense if people saw the junk spam that was infesting the blog response columns. Fred deleted all of it (and there may have been some collateral post damage :) ).
Blocking the IP range mentioned seems to help though we may mourn any Scandanavian viewers :)

Ah, so I see that Zoids Genesis got to you too. I blame 4-chan’s pedobears for getting me hooked on it. (Yeah, I blame them for the O Rly bird and camwhores too.) I swear I’ll have a anime reviewing blog going someday soon on all the anime series i’ve been watching.

I’m one of the lucky ones who hate coffee. Then again, I hate anything remotely bitter, including tea. I don’t even drink alcohol, even though my college student status says otherwise. I guess I’m just the plain ol’soda and water type.

As for PVC’s, I usually just pick mine up at Comic-Con every year. Actually, if I didn’t forget about it… I would’ve bought a $14.95 set of Kanon PVC’s as a gift for Fred-san when he came to San Diego two years ago. Oh well, the store doesn’t have it anymore. Oddly, they don’t have any Nanoha figures too, so I’ll have to do some booth hunting this year. I’m still waiting for someone to bring out a Talim PVC figurine though…
