slow flight

Guu. I hate it when my drawing process slows to a crawl. I was very up on Wedneday’s comic, but good god it took forever to draw. ^^;;; I suppose the fact that it was 10 frames didn’t help, but still, some of the frames took a long time to pump out. A lot of the time is spent drawing and redrawing expressions. Often the bulk of a drawing will come out fairly quickly, but the subtle crap with the face always drives me nuts. Also, im trying to do more full body stuff these days, which is hard for me. It’s good practice anyway.

Today is a “circuity” work day. Very solid on what i want to do now. Oh, and because you wanted to know … She won’t be loosing the wings. It is a common thread in several of the works that inspire me (including some things i’ve done in the past) and i felt that the focused theme i’m working on here really is quite different from Abe’s, and the meaning of the wings for me is different. Now to start fleshing it out a little. :)

You do good work Fred :) I never mind waiting longer for a comic.

I agree with angel, I don’t think no one has ever mind. You do good work Fred and the quality speaks for its self.

I really liked the artwork in today’s comic. And it was interesting reading about the CAD software in the rant. All good stuff.

You seem to be having some rough times with Piro’s emotional expressions. Kimiko you’ve refound and have her nailed …. Megumi’s very expressive, so not too hard. Telegraphing Piro’s emotions seems to be more difficult for you. Framewise… nothing seriously dynamic, just moving the story along like a metronome, clickclickclick. I know it wreaks havoc but I like to see you explore those assymetric frameless layouts anytime there’s action: like the next time Ping wields a light pole have half a page of her in blowy windy mode hair aflung with the light pole itself acting as a border separating the other frames.

Heh… heh heh …. don’t take me too seriously.

Storywise — like I said, good pacing clicks. Piro has good intentions — this *should* drive her Piro-standing meter up a few notches, but why do I suspect more angst and drang first.

Good thing Kimiko isn’t a vampire or thoughts of Karin-parody might start surfacing :)

The circuity omake is what I’m most excited for in the 4th volume. I’m glad she’s not loosing the wings, they really helped to contribute to the atmosphere I thought.

Great job on the lastes page… and the wait is killing me. though I’m willing to wait.. have to.. and want to see what happens. Almost too good.

I’ve been cheering on Piro and Kimiko from the start, and so times like this are some of my favorite parts.

Can’t wait to read the follow through of Circuity. It sounds like it will be very good.

Keep working on the expression of the characters emotions! I think that they contribute the best to how Megatokyo plays out. I like being able to find depth behind the face of the drawings.

    Keep up the good work!

Next time we meet - I hope to chat about Alias and old Triple III (then Symbolics then Nichimen) back when Nichimen Graphics was the Japanese vendor for both N-World and Alias … Nowadays the old haunt is known as Izware. Izware, formed by several of the original developers of the software, had been the exclusive maintainer and distributor of these products for the past several years, this role had limited the kinds of things it could do with the software. Mirai, Nendo and Game Exchange were developed by Nichimen Graphics (Los Angeles), building upon code originally developed by and purchased from Symbolics, Inc. (Cambridge, MA) in 1992. - Sparky

Hi. I didn’t know where to e-mail you so I decided to leave a comment behind.
I noticed that you never seem to update the “Characters” page on Megatokyo, so I was wondering why you didn’t just post up one of your completed sketches of the characters from fredart or a previous megatokyo sketch so you don’t have to do more work and draw new individuals? As for the character background info, you could save that for later, but at least the character page won’t be empty right? ^_^ Thanks and keep up the good work!
