done.

Around 3:13am last night i finished Book 4. It is done.

Well, almost. I still have to adjust about 12 pages and make several minor edits, and communicate some changes to the design pages with my editor this morning, all those little persnickety things that will hound me for the next few days until things are finally off to the service bureau and the book takes on its more or less complete form and we cant tinker with it anymore.

Done. It’s a word that makes you think of pushing back your chair and relaxing. For me, that’s almost never the case, sadly. These projects always take so long to finish, that they push right into the next things i have to do and i am always forced to pick up and dive right into something else immediately. Such is the case today. I have to finish these edits, write an email to my editor with all my comments, and then dive right into “monday’s” comic. If i’m lucky, i’ll have it done for Tuesday. Come hell or high water there will be 3 comics this week. :)

I shouldn’t say that. I seem to get flooded often.

all the little stuff aside, the fact remains - the book is done. Any edits or tweaks from here on out are only details.

Congratulations on completing the new book! I’m really looking forward to ordering it and having a chance to read through the whole thing in hard-copy. And I’m also looking forward to seeing the new publishing house imprint.

Congratulations. Glad to hear you got theat big old funky gibbon off your back. Now all you need to do is prise the last-minute-details squirrel-monkey off your shoulder. It’s probably for the best that you have to quickly return to the comic. Megatokyo may seem almost like a respite after the book prep, and the sturm and drang of Circuity. You may have some trouble re-starting the narrative, if past experience is a guide, but, ganbatte! Fred, we’re all pulling for you in MTfanworld.

Just dropped by to say congratulations! I can’t wait for the fourth book to come out, same thing with circuity. Keep up the good work fred,

    Alex

  9. Brenden says:

    Awesome, Fred. congratulations. (!!!)

can’t wait till it’s in on the shelves, and I can buy it! a purchase well worth my money, just because its Megatokyo.

you deserve a break for your work. whenever you can get it. if it meant missing another week of pages, that would be okay.

    keep up the good work!!

Hmmm, now I have to come up with a random holiday to buy my copies for my family….

Heh… the Oban festival … when the dead walk the earth — how appropriate :)
After I recover from paying taxes… I sense an order to Megagear for “stuff” ahead.

Oh, and if by chance you get an hour or so to stare at the wall and decide to fire up Haruhi, be sure and watch the first TWO episodes back-to-back. I’m sure all your friends (now soul-less zombies of the Haruhiism cult) have said something similar.

  11. Meri says:

So that was my mistake. Ep 1 of Haruhi is painful to watch, though it has its amusing moments.

My son thought it was funny, though. He likes silliness and slapstick. The whole “pan to the sky” thing was his idea of humorous — the “censorship” was his idea of hysterical :)
It reminded me of the “paper cutout” episodes of Kare Kano for random on purpose awfulness.

i can’t imagine the stress that has been lifted off your shoulders…. only to have more thrown back on them. You have been doing more than ever for everyone. Congrats! I hope to find Book IV myself.
