I actually did this before the other copic trial i put up the other day, but when looking at it, i felt it was kinda neat, even in its unfinished state, so i posted it. Obviously backgrounds present more of a challenge when using markers due to the fact that there is more surface area and the fact that pen strokes want to be continuous BEHIND the characters (easy to do on the computer, not so easy on a 2 dimensional peice of paper. Anyways, i always wanted to color out pings hair, so it was kinda fun to do.

its a bit pixelated but other than that its awesome (i heart ping’s hair)
O_O Wow! Now this looks cool. I really like the texture and the colors you used here and I really like how the sky came out using the colors that you used…this looks really cool Fred! ^_^
Btw, I sent you an email about my book…but it prb. got lost in all the other mail you have? And Barns and Nobel still hasn’t gotten’ anymore.
the reason it is so pixalated is that its the web resolution comic printed on marker paper - i wanted to see how it worked, so i just grabbed the comic and printed it.
arron: i’ll try to answer your email tomorrow.
Good work! Nice experimentation.
I hope that you start updating your sketch books here more often. I love seeing raw stuff.
Any hope of seeing some colour works of the two weeks set? I still pine over those drawings. ;_;
Yay for Colourness!
I like the raw vivid colour you achieve with the copic markers. That’s something that can’t be designed digitally, except if you have loads of time. Some overflow mistakes here and there, but it gives it character, so keep it plz.
Will we be seeing any megatokyo covers done by hand in the future?
Wowzerz! It looks great! I love how the colors look kinda dark. And I love the hot pink color of Pings hair, for the most part
Great work! I love the colors…and of course, Ping’s hair is awsome. The sky is really cool, what with using all those colors and all.
I head it’s hard in the beginning to use copics for shading, is it true? ^^;
Ping! =D
Kawaii!
Way to go!
Wow, I love your Copic works. I’d actually love to see more stuff from you, if you can find the time to do it.
Also, it appears that in my CGs, I was pretty close to cannon colors with Ping’s outfit. Sweet! Though I was pretty far off with Yuki.
I still think she’d look awesome in green.
Oh well. Nice job~
I had forgotten how pink Ping’s hair was supposed to be! I love it! The copics worked out really well. I think like your copic work better than the computer colored stuff!
Hope the copics mean you can put more stuff up! 8D Yay for copics! and Ping’s HAIR!
back from my averting eyes… okay.. the last few strip sequences work well when read in sequence. Nasty stuff getting close to someone… lots of burning.
Now of course, I’m wondering who Largo is talking to for Monday (but I imagine its Erika given his tone and the conversation). I’m sure she got the Kimiko end of the story (oh wasn’t that probably an emotional mess).
copic: very vibrant, really makes me wish for a colored MT but in no way would I ever suggest that — we’d never see you again
Here’s an idea… for Warmth (remember Warmth?) stick in a monthly “Sunday color omake” if you want to explore the medium.
bleh bleh… once again I’m not going to be able to make your west coast appearances, but you’ll be in Sparky’s territory if I read the schedule right.
hmmm, previous post sounded like me telling you what to do…. apologies — what I’ll say is that I do like it when you are able to take the time and share some color with us.
It looks pretty good. There’s nothing that I can comment on that nobody else has pointed out. Just practice, practice, practice.
