saturday sluggage
Nothing seems to mess up your energy flow than major changes in plans. It’s almost like i didn’t know what to do with myself yesterday. Ugh.
One of the things that has been bothering me is that the drawings that i had already done for this comic were really… not very good. You can tell i was rushing when i did them, in the hope of finishing it before i went to Germany. Now that i’m here, and even a DPD has gone up (which itself looks rushed, doesn’t it?) i’m thinking i need to redo these frames. I gotta maintain some kind of quality level with this thing.
Anyways, not too much else to report on. Just going to quietly sit here and start drawing. Sometimes that can be a challenge, but this bowl of oatmeal seems be helping a little. Now for some coffee…

Yeah I can understand having to deal with major changes in plans. It’s like your thrown in to the middle of the ocean with a innertube and no paddle. (That’s a wierd analogy, but you get the idea…)
Now, looking at the DPD, it wasnt all that bad. Piroko looks awesome! It’s just that you need to clean up Largo. (He kinda looks like he went through a tornado)
I hope your weekend gets better.

i’ve decided to just post this comic for Monday. I need some time to work on other stuff, in particular getting things ready for fall for the store - something that i am way behind working on. If i spend the weekend working on comics, i’ll never get to it. Hope i dont get too many ‘you are such a lazy ass’ emails. Already got one last night telling me that i should not post pictures of myself on the comic site, because i look like “some 40 year old guy going through a mid life crisis” and not the young guy that is portrayed in the comics. ^^;;
Feh. Why is it that some people think that you have to act certain ways when you are certain ages, and if you dont you are somehow in a ‘midlife crisis’ or something? Comic artsts should be read but not seen? wft?

The DPD was plenty fine for Friday. Take it easy - it’s been a stressful con season.

There is nothing wrong with putting pictures of yourself on the site. There is a saying (which is also a bumper sticker) : “I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up.” - that is one of many mottos I believe in &/or live by. Age is a state of mind. If one thinks like an old fogy they will be an old fogy. I may be approaching 40 but I am like a (stereotypical) 20 or 25 year old. I teach high school & many of my students think I am ‘cool’ because of that, yet they still respect me. I also draw Manga &/or Anime style art & have liked it for about 25 years. Mid-life crisis ? NO - it is just ones personality. If other people can not accept it they are the ones that have a problem. By the way, keep up the great work !

Try not to stress (It must be hard not to) and relax I’m sure you can get your creative juices flowing again! (Even though I think your drawings look great already.)
At least your not stuck in SAT preparations and college hunting. (How I hate High School…)

It’s amazing at what people expect you to do with yourself depending on your age. It’s funny that I meet so many people that can’t believe I’m in my 30s. I guess I don’t act like the tipical 30 something.

Somewhat like Piro’s situation…. emails like the “midlife crisis” say a lot more about the clueless writer than you.
I turned 49 last month and it is very aggravating when people half my age sound like my grandfather… they might as well dig a hole and lay next to him if they think like that.
My wife is a pharmacist and says most of her mail order scrips are coming from 20 and 30-somethings who have done lousy jobs of taking care of themselves (fat, diabetic, heart problems, etc) and take 10+ medications *already*. Just remember if you *do* fall off your bike… it takes a bit longer to recoup the hit point damage
Actually I’d like to put in a whine about an update for your classic “Evil Minion” shirt … “Pole-sitting” on a shirt would be nice alternatively as I’m running out of places to hang MT posters and my other loot in my den of anime/manga inequity.

followup comment: sorry to hear about the flight bollix (though ya’ll were pushing it pretty hard) … stories like that just confirm for me how flying stopped being *fun* at all since about 1990.
Ah well…. massive negative karma for the travel agency with the dropped ball.
