I feel like an omake is basically a chance for the creator to put his/her characters in a new setting, without worrying about messing up the pre-existing canon. It's an opportunity to stretch or just have fun and certainly not a reason for canon-lovers to turn their back on the comic all together. I do have to say I enjoyed the tie-in to the canon at the end <3 I'm excited to see where MT goes next :D I really liked the omake, and I only know (and love) Clannad out of the two series it’s drawn from. The first half I could kind of get a wobbly sense of, but then when Piroko and Miho's alter-ego showed up I was like, "Who are they? Why are they here? What's their goal? WHAT'S GOING ON?!" But it looked so cool! Please hurry on the reference guide! (For some reason I expected the omake to be longer, too; it had so much story crammed into it, I was surprised when you announced you were about to post the last comic. It felt like it was just getting started, but I suppose I should have expected the shortness; it's not a new series, after all.)
