I think I saw on TV that someone built a model of the Empire Building in toothpicks (this was back in the 1970s). My parents had no problem giving me toothpicks, white glue and shirt cardboard to get started. I just couldn't have a hobby to cut the toothpick into smaller pieces. That severely limited what I could do with, and I later gave up. When I was a little kid, I was more interested in building with toothpicks and white glue.
