new colorwork: Megane Meido Kimiko

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

One thing i’m really bad at doing is taking care of gift art. There are people out there who i have owed gift art for over 8 years (longer too, but i don’t want to think about that). I’ve owed Richard a drawing for a while now, and when he recently ordered some stuff from the MegaGear store, i decided to make sure i did something nice to send along with the package. Of course, it took almost 2 months to finally do it (and held up his order for that long. Good thing he’s a friend or he’d kill me :P) but i finally pulled together a nice little drawing of kimiko for him. It’s actually two drawings - a pencil drawing on ink jet paper, then a high res print on marker paper that i colored with copics. Of course, i had to pander to his little megane (glasses) and meido (maid) thing, but why not, he waited long enough, he deserved it. Oh, and if you want this particular drawing you’ll have to hunt Pocky down and kill him. Richard, i hope you enjoy it!

(i should note that Richard isn’t REALLY into the whole maid thing, but his Meganeko obsession thing makes it easy to tease him by adding all sorts of other fetishistic categories. I almost did a bunny girl Kimiko, but that might have been mean :P)

new colorworks - ping : copic trials

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

I actually did this before the other copic trial i put up the other day, but when looking at it, i felt it was kinda neat, even in its unfinished state, so i posted it. Obviously backgrounds present more of a challenge when using markers due to the fact that there is more surface area and the fact that pen strokes want to be continuous BEHIND the characters (easy to do on the computer, not so easy on a 2 dimensional peice of paper. Anyways, i always wanted to color out pings hair, so it was kinda fun to do.

New Sketch: Saeko - longdress

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

In all honesty this really is just a random sketch. For some reason last night i found myself wandering aimlessly on my sketchbad, and oddly enough, it actually produced some scannable sketches. I’m not really sure about the dress, either in design or where it may have come from - it’s rare for me to draw female characters without some sort of defining line at the hip (seperate tops / bottoms or seams in dresses) but oddly enough it works in this one. Material of the dress? With that collar, it gives the impression of being a knit of some sort… kinda scary, if you think about it, a knit dress of that length. Saeko’s expressions, possible meaning behind these sketches as they surface? Can’t tell ya :P

new sketch: Meganeko Kimiko

Saturday, September 3rd, 2005

Not really a very good sketch, but it is one of the more cute examples of Kimiko in her glasses. I debated whether to ever actually show her in glasses - at least, not for a while, but in some ways im trying to show us getting a litte more exposed to kimiko’s private thoughts, and as we do this we will see a little more of kimiko the way she is, not just the way Piro, and the public, percieve her. Lots of subtle stuff about perception and sight going on in Megatokyo, i’m just hoping that it comes together the way i envision it when all is said and done. It’s blurry enough as it is :)

new sketch: Full Megatokyo Panic

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

A developmental sketch from one of the Omake ideas i’ve been kicking around for a while. Not a bad drawing, a little sketchy, but serviceable.

new dumpbox: kimikoscratch

Monday, June 27th, 2005

I just posted a random sketch from my notebooks - there are so many random sketches like this, and so many of them aren’t worth scanning, but this one isn’t bad, so i posted it.

I’ve been working on what was going to be mondays comic since early this morning, but it’s been slow going, mostly because i keep changing the script and i’ve already started over twice. Well, you can’t escape the fact that traveling messes up my comic production schedule, and this is just one of those times… i just don’t want to rush this one, i guess.

Gah. I hate key. I HATE them!!!

Asmodeus just pointed this out to me: Tomoyo After - It’s a Wonderful LIfe. This follows up on the story of one of the Clannad girls, Sakagami Tomyo. She’s not the one that most Clannad fans focus on, and her scenario stands pretty much on its own, but i’m really glad to see this extension on her. I’m actually quite fond of her character, really, so.. yeah, one more friggin Key thing to buy.

bastards. Really, i hate them. :)

Seriously, it almost could be. I was browsing by Akiba Blog and i came across this picture…

It’s Erika! and Largo! he even has his Muffin Man Scooter!

Here’s the full article on the “Street Rap” if you’re curious about more silliness.

Ya, i know. I’m really low on sleep. Can ya tell? :P Anyways, back to more serious things…

sketchbook: miho : parts

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

This is actually a drawing that i’ve owed someone for a long time (a very long time, as in, a few years ^^;;) I was reminded about it a few months ago and it STILL took this long to remember to do it. I hope she likes it.

Yeah, i had some stuff running thru my head as i drew this, but i’ll let other ponder it. I’ve been avoiding doing anything akin to the Broken Miho drawing for a long time, and i guess its because i dont want to compete with that image, but this is its own, i think. Not as complex, not as good, but still… it’s got something, i think.

[sketchbook] - kimiko

Tuesday, March 8th, 2005

Just posted a sketch i did last night while just randomly sketching in my sketchbook. As i say in the commentary on the sketch, i don’t think i draw enough. I spend a lot of time typing in thoughts and ideas and working on things that way, but for some reason i tend to avoid sketching. I have some thoughts on why (it has to do with the fact that crappy writing is harder to see that crappy sketches when you aren’t really focusing or when you aren’t in the groove, so to speak). Anyways, i’ve decided to put the laptop down in the evenings and sit with my sketchbook instead. This drawing is one that came out last night, and oddly enough it didn’t come out that bad. I think i’ll try coloring it tomorrow.
